Education and Employers

We Understand and Deliver Impact

We are a national charity that has been working since October 2009 in close partnership with leading national bodies representing schools, colleges and employers. Our aim is to ‘ensure that every school and college has an effective partnership with employers to provide its young people with the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential and so to secure the UK’s future prosperity’.

We deliver our aim running a series of nationally (and increasingly internationally) recognised research and delivery programmes. Read more about our charity.

Through the power of research and volunteering, look what we have achieved so far…

Research

Our ground breaking research is nationally and internationally recognised. For example we demonstrated through our research that young adults who recalled ‘four or more employer contacts’ are five times less likely to be NEET (not in education, employment or training) that those who had no involvement.  You can learn more about our research programmes and access our free research library.

We want our research not only to inform policy but also to deliver impact to children and young people NOW. Look what we have achieved so far through our delivery programmes, ALL of which are free for schools, FE providers and volunteers.

Our volunteers are working with children and young people (direct pupil engagement)

In 2009 we pioneered a free online technology and programme called ‘Inspiring the Future’ that allows individuals to register their interest in volunteering within a school, and schools to contact volunteers directly, inviting them to participate in a range of careers events, inspiring talks and fun activities.  Since we started, over 35,000 volunteers have registered with us, delivering hundreds of events in schools across the UK touching on the lives of over 1 million children and young people.  Read more about how our Inspiring the Future volunteers are making an impact in schools and colleges.

Our volunteers are working directly to support schools and FE providers through our governance programmes

In September 2016, we were awarded the contract from the Department for Education to develop a self-service, free governor recruitment programme, Inspiring Governance, that uses technology to achieve scale over the four-year period. Already, on average we are placing 13 skilled volunteers per week into school governance roles. These newly placed governors are eligible for free online training and support from Inspiring Governance’s delivery partner the National Governance Association (NGA).

In March 2017 we were awarded the contract from the Education and Training Foundation to develop a recruitment service for governance roles at further education providers. The Inspiring FE Governance service went live early June 2017.
